LafargeHolcim Ltd.’s first-quarter earnings rose amid stronger sales across markets.
The Swiss cement maker’s recurring earnings before interest and taxes for the period more than doubled to 528 million Swiss francs ($575.9 million) from CHF262 million in the same period a year earlier.
Net sales grew to CHF5.36 billion from CHF5.29 billion.
The company also successfully closed a transaction to buy Firestone Building Products on March 31, which will now become part of a newly established global business unit.
LafargeHolcim said it expects demand across regions to get a boost from various government stimulus programs in the second half of the year.
