IBM, Salesforce share gains contribute to Dow’s nearly 50-point climb

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is climbing Thursday afternoon with shares of IBM and Salesforce delivering the strongest returns for the price-weighted average.

Shares of IBM IBM, +4.73% and Salesforce CRM, +2.49% have contributed around a quarter of the index’s intraday rally, as the Dow DJIA, -0.30% was most recently trading 42 points (0.1%) higher. IBM’s shares are up $5.16 (4.2%) while those of Salesforce have gained $5.11 (3.3%), combining for an approximately 68-point bump for the Dow. Other components contributing significantly to the gain include Dow DOW, -0.44%, Verizon VZ, +1.18%, and Intel INTC, +0.31%. A $1 move in any of the Dow’s 30 components equates to a 6.59-point swing.
