Dow, Caterpillar share gains lead Dow’s 162-point climb

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is climbing Tuesday afternoon with shares of Dow and Caterpillar leading the way for the blue-chip average.

Shares of Dow DOW, +2.15% and Caterpillar CAT, +1.58% are contributing to the index’s intraday rally, as the Dow DJIA, +0.56% is trading 162 points (0.5%) higher. Dow’s shares have gained $1.19 (2.1%) while those of Caterpillar have climbed $4.00, or 1.6%, combining for a roughly 34-point bump for the Dow. Other components contributing significantly to the gain include Visa V, +1.14%, Verizon VZ, +1.40%, and Amgen AMGN, +1.39%. A $1 move in any of the Dow’s 30 components results in a 6.59-point swing.
