3M, Walmart share gains contribute to Dow’s 219-point climb

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is climbing Wednesday morning with shares of 3M and Walmart leading the way for the index.

The Dow DJIA, +1.40% was most recently trading 219 points, or 0.7%, higher, as shares of 3M MMM, +3.39% and Walmart WMT, +2.57% are contributing to the index’s intraday rally. 3M’s shares are up $3.18, or 2.7%, while those of Walmart have climbed $2.57, or 1.9%, combining for a roughly 38-point bump for the Dow. McDonald’s MCD, +1.58%, Walgreens Boots WBA, +2.15%, and Home Depot HD, +2.74% are also contributing significantly to the gain. A $1 move in any of the index’s 30 components results in a 6.59-point swing.
