Apple Inc., Chevron share gains contribute to Dow’s 200-point climb

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is trading up Thursday afternoon with shares of Apple Inc. and Chevron leading the way for the blue-chip average.

The Dow DJIA, +0.52% was most recently trading 200 points, or 0.8%, higher, as shares of Apple Inc. AAPL, +3.70% and Chevron CVX, +2.87% have contributed to the index’s intraday rally. Apple Inc.’s shares are up $4.73 (4.3%) while those of Chevron have gained $2.00, or 3.0%, combining for a roughly 44-point boost for the Dow. Also contributing significantly to the gain are Visa V, +2.21%, Walt Disney DIS, +2.59%, and Dow Inc. DOW, +2.36%. A $1 move in any of the Dow’s 30 components results in a 6.58-point swing.
