American Express, Walt Disney share losses lead the way, but Dow flat

Behind declines for shares of American Express and Walt Disney, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is falling Wednesday morning. Shares of American Express AXP, -4.16% and Walt Disney DIS, -3.01% have contributed to the index’s intraday decline, as the Dow DJIA, -0.07% was most recently trading 14 points (0.1%) lower.

American Express’s shares have dropped $3.85 (3.3%) while those of Walt Disney have dropped $3.23 (2.3%), combining for a roughly 47-point drag on the Dow. Other components contributing significantly to the decline include Caterpillar CAT, -1.64%, Walgreens Boots WBA, -2.14%, and JPMorgan Chase JPM, -1.49%. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the benchmark equates to a 6.58-point swing.
